I was on YouTube, and I found a bit of throwback video that a friend and my brothers and I made last summer. It’s quite a little feature! Check it out.

Well, have a lovely day. Hope you don’t feel too sick

Manga Review: Tokyo Crazy Paradise

Friday, May 30th, 2008

So, I started to read another new manga. I’m currently reading over 10 different series. This one is a comedy/action(Yakuza)/romance called Tokyo Crazy Paradise.

I picked this one up because I was in the mood for something that wasn’t all about youth trying desperately to understand their own emotions while constantly missing opportunities to confess their love. That’s not really the focus of Tokyo Crazy Paradise, but that sub plot is pretty much still present. I guess you just can’t escape it.

Tokyo Crazy Paradise (I’m tired of typing that so it’s TCP from here on out) is a manga that takes place in the year 2020 in a crime filled and indifferent future Tokyo (I doubt Tokyo will ever be as bad depicted in this manga). In order to protect their daughter -Tsukasa- from the constant sexual harassment women face in that day and age, a married couple (both cops) decide to raise her as another son along with their 3 other sons. Shortly before we enter the story, that married couple got caught up in a Yakuza dispute and were both killed, leaving the 14 year old Tsukasa and her 16, 14 (her twin), and 13 year old brothers alone in this world. I don’t remember the brothers names because they play very minor roles in this manga (so far).
After being kicked out of their home by their indifferent landlady (this is where we join the story) Tsukasa decides to try and get a free meal off Ryuji, a Yakuza “friend” (whom she has never actually spoken too). Bad idea of course, but she is kind of young and very hungry. Because of this (and the help of a few lies + her skills at fighting) Tsukasa is forced to work as Ryuji’s bodyguard.

What is wrong with the Philidelphia police?

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

My brother just wrote a post on his blog, The Poverty Jet Set, about some gang related violence near his new home. Apparently a white SUV (OJ Simpson!) ran over some kid on purpose and then a bunch of other kids (”friends” maybe) dragged the semi-conscious kid away.

My brother called 911 twice and they didn’t even send someone over to investigate… I guess they just passed it off as gang violence and they gave up before they even left the station.

Anyways, read the whole story straight from my brothers hands here: http://thepovertyjetset.com/2008/05/03/a-view-of-the-park/

It will tick you off probably. I know it made me mad.

Review - Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

~WARNING! I MAY NOT RUIN THE STORY, BUT I’M NOT VERY CAREFUL IN HIDING PLOT TWISTS~

I just recently watched an anime series called Code Geass. I wasn’t all that sure of what I was getting into at the time, I just thought that it was going to be some kind of super hero type story.
As it turns out, Code Geass is one serious drama. I’m not talking about romantic drama either. I’m talking about the kind of drama where you can’t be guaranteed that any one character will survive up to and after the end credits of the last episode. Actually, you can feel almost confident that they WON’T survive if they have any sort of romantic feelings. The stronger the romantic feelings, the worse that person’s fate. (more…)

FLORIDA!

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

I’m leaving for Florida today!!! The drive down is always more enjoyable than the drive back, memories of Waffle House and Daft Punk blasting in the car are coming to mind…(My brother insists that we play Daft Punk whenever we see the Welcome to Florida sign, not too sure why though.

We have some shows to play with the band and some surfing to do! The weekend surf report isn’t looking too good though, so I’m bringing my skateboard along.

Well, we’ll chat when I get back…while I’m away, you should probably vote for VQ or George Washington to win ;)

God bless you, PEACE!

Election ‘08: Polls Those Washington Fat Cats don’t Want You to See

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I spend a lot of time working with kids (K - 5th grade) during the day, and today we held an impromptu presidential poll in the computer room, the results of which may surprise you:

Yeah, that’s George Washington.

Here are some of the riveting comments from the future of our nation on why they support the people they do.

Clinton:

“She’s cool.”
“Obama hates America.”
“She would be the first girl.”

McCain:

“He’s not Hillary or Obama.”
“He has good ideas.”

Obama:

“He’d lower gas prices.”
“He’d stop the war.”
“Hillary’s ugly, and John McCain is stupid and ugly.”
“He’d be the first brown president.”
“He looks cute.” I heard this from a lot of kids.

And the most powerful reason I heard in support of Obama
“Cause my mommy go Bama.”

Me:

“He’s the best!”
“He’s as close to perfect as possible!”
“He’s the new Lincoln!”*

*Note: None of the kids actually said this, but I figured they would have.

What do you think? Let your voice be heard.

Seth Franco!!!

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

I was just searching for friends on YouTube and found a family friend. He’s the second white Harlem Globetrotter in history.

Actually, a couple years ago Seth and my brothers and I were playing some pick up basketball @ Flushing Park in Queens NY (this was about a year before he was a Globetrotter). I watched Seth whoop up on 5 guys single handedly!!! It was awesome, to say the least. You can check out his website here. Keep up the good work Seth!!!
